Alumni (give) back to UWS

David Bruce Smith smlDavid Bruce-Smith is a UWS graduate who believes in giving back to UWS, his story is featured in the May edition of the University of Western Sydney’s Alumni Magazine – GradLife.

David first graduated in 1994 with a Graduate Diploma of Social Ecology and then in 1996 with a Master of Applied Science (Social Ecology) before going on to complete a Master of Science (Honours). He studied at UWS while working for the Australian Tax Office, where he spent the last 20 years or so as a business systems analyst and an internal organisational design consultant.

David feels it is important to give back. David says there are two main reasons why he supports UWS, the first is that one of the great lifelong lessons UWS taught him was how profoundly liberating and emancipator education and scholarship can be. The second being that he is appreciative of the education he received from UWS, which greatly enhanced his professional career path.

‘Where I can, I want to help others pursue their education and academic interests’ says David.

Also featured in the first edition of GradLife for 2013 is another UWS alumnnus and donor, Simon Wee. Simon graduated in 2002 with a Bachelor of Construction Management and has been supporting the Alumni Scholarship Fund since it was launched in 2009.

You can read more about David and Simon’s stories in the May edition of GradLife (opens in a new window).
