Celebrating a community effort at the Professional Staff Conference

The 2013 Professional Staff Conference provided an opportunity for the UWS Development team to connect, collaborate and celebrate with colleagues and highlight the university-wide team effort essential for successful and professional fundraising.

With a presentation entitled ‘The Fundraising Toolkit’ Elissa Gale and Stephanie Moran took staff on a journey of how donations to the Universities are used and how staff can not only benefit from fundraising activities but how they can get involved and support fundraising efforts for important UWS causes such as prizes, scholarships, student welfare and research.

Case studies were presented on some of the donors that have made gifts, large and small, to support UWS, with staff also recognised for their efforts to personally contribute through UWS Staff Giving.

In the exhibitor hall, the interactive Staff Giving display included life size images of some of our Staff Giving champions. The display challenged staff to connect and collaborate with colleagues to support the community of greater Western Sydney and our students.

Staff were also encouraged to celebrate the success of the Staff Giving program, in particular the contributions our staff have made to support UWS Community Scholarships, which in 2012 provided five of our students with a scholarship valued at $5,000 each year. With the ongoing support of staff, alumni and students, we hope to see at least two more awarded in 2013.
