UWS Staff (give) it their all at the Professional Staff Conference

The 2011 Professional Staff Conference, held on Thursday 9 June, saw hundreds of UWS professionals getting into the spirit of Staff Giving, following the announcement of matched funding for staff gifts towards student scholarships.

Early in the day, Professor John Ingleson asked staff to consider the REAL DEAL for many of our students.

“More than 30% of our students work 20+ hours per week, while studying and for around 50%, they are the first in their family to attend university.”

And, despite these challenges, our students are determined and passionate, working to ensure a bright future for themselves and their families. This is the REAL DEAL for many of our current scholarship recipients.

In the lunch hour, staff partook in a unique photo opportunity at the Staff Giving stand, where they donned fancy dress to reveal what the REAL DEAL is for them. Feather boas were a hit, while some staff revealed themselves as keen sportspeople and adventurers.
