UWS supports Oxfam East Africa Appeal
Since August 2011 UWS staff and students have donated over $18,000 to the East Africa Oxfam Appeal – with all gifts in October and November matched by the Federal Government.
Recently, Andrew Hewett, Executive Director for Oxfam Australia, visited the Dadaab Refugee camp in Kenya to see firsthand the effect the drought has had on the local people. More than 13 million people across East Africa have been affected by the drought with families struggling to survive.

Oxfam is a leader in its field providing humanitarian and long term development assistance to those who need it most. With the continued generous support from UWS, its staff and students Oxfam has been able to work directly in the regions bringing lifesaving resources such as clean water and food to the community.
Oxfam is one of four charity partners supported through UWS Staff Giving. Through UWS Staff Giving, staff can also choose to give to support scholarships for UWS students in need. All gifts to support scholarships are matched dollar for dollar by the University.
Students and friends of UWS can support the Oxfam East Africa Appeal through the UWS donation page on the Oxfam website.
UWS Staff can make a pre-tax donation now through UWS Staff Giving. By signing up to a regular fortnightly donation supporting our charity partners and UWS student scholarships your gift can become even more meaningful.
