On the Day

Graduation Ceremonies are held in the Ian and Nancy Turbott Auditorium (Building EE), Parramatta Campus, Corner of Victoria Road and James Ruse Drive, Parramatta.

Arrival and Parking

You need to arrive and register no later than 90 minutes prior to the commencement of your ceremony. Do not forget to allow time if you are hiring your academic dress.

On-site parking is available. All parking rules as displayed must be observed.

On Arrival

You will need to record your name at the registration desk as directed to ensure that you are on the attendance list for inclusion in the ceremony.

You will then be provided your seat allocation and guest tickets. A maximum of four tickets are issued to each graduand.  Additional tickets are unlikely due to the limited capacity of the Auditorium. A viewing screen is available in the foyer for any additional guests.

After you have registered you will need to collect your academic dress.

• Graduands that arrive after the commencement of the ceremony may not be permitted to participate.
• Guests need to arrive approximately one hour prior to the commencement of the ceremony to ensure entry to the auditorium and collection of tickets.

During the Ceremony

During the ceremony you will be asked to stand as Graduands and your award will be conferred. You will then be called, row-by-row, to await presentation in sequence. It is important you remain in your allocated seat to ensure your name is called in the correct order.

On the day, we will provide you with a demonstration on the protocol for receiving your award.

Points to Observe on the Day

• Guests should be at the auditorium entrance door no later than 30 minute prior to the commencement of the ceremony and will be seated shortly after. Guests that arrive after the ceremony has commenced may not be admitted to the auditorium.
• The ceremony will take approximately 1-2 hours.
• All guests are requested to remain in the auditorium until the conclusion of the ceremony.
• Due to fire regulations, strollers are not permitted in the auditorium, however, storage is available at the information desk.
• Children over the age of three MUST occupy their own seat.
• If you have hired your academic dress, please ensure it is returned no later than 45 minutes after the completion of your ceremony.

Graduation Services

The following services will be available on the day of the ceremony:

Photographs and videos: Commercial photographers have been commissioned to take photographs and produce a video of the ceremony. They will take a photograph and close up video of you as you are presented to the Chancellor. Orders for this photo may be pre-ordered by completing the mail order form included in your graduation pack or can be ordered on the day of the ceremony.

Photographs with family and friends can be taken in the on-site studios before and after the ceremony.

Testamur Framing and Plaque Production: After the ceremony, there will be a testamur framing and a plaque production service available. These may be also pre-ordered for collection on the day of your ceremony by completing the mail order forms included in your graduation pack

Floral Services: A florist will be available on the day. Floral arrangements and cut flowers can be purchased on campus on graduation day.

Memorabilia: There will be a wide range of gift items available for sale, before and after each ceremony. These items have been designed for graduates of UWS, carry the University name and, where possible, the logo.

Graduating 'In Absentia'

If you are unable to attend your ceremony, you will graduate "In Absentia" and your testamur and transcript will be sent to you pending payment though iPay of the "In Absentia" fee which is currently AUD$15.00 for postage within Australia or AUD$25 for postage overseas.

After Graduation

Information on your Testamur
Your testamur contains your name, course and level of award.  Approved key programs also appear on Testamurs, but Majors and Sub Majors appear on your academic transcript only.
