Jeni Ryde is a senior lecturer and teaches the Italian language and culture, English for academic purposes and Renaissance art history at the University of Western Sydney. She is currently writing her PhD – a cross disciplinary study incorporating Renaissance Historiography, Museology and Tourism Studies. This thesis is investigating whether heritage tourism is leading to the transformation, reluctantly or otherwise, of the nature of the church space from its traditional spiritual function into one with a more secular museum like orientation.
