Who can take part?

We are looking to attract at least 2500 people to take part inr this study – there is no upper limit.

You are eligible to participate if:

  1. You own a horse OR
  2. You directly participate in part or all of the day-to-day care of one or more horses. In other words, you are frequently in physical contact with horses as part of their ongoing management.

We would like people from all industry sectors and all levels of horse involvement to take part in this study.

Horse owners and horse care providers from all Australian states and territories are welcome to take part in the study. We would like people living in states where Hendra virus cases have occurred as well as those where Hendra virus cases have not occurred to take part in the study.

Project communication and surveys will operate primarily via the Internet. To participate in this way you will need to have access to a computer and the Internet, and you will need to have an email address.

We are very keen not to exclude those who lack regular Internet and email access. If you would like to have the surveys mailed to you via post please call 02 9685 9591 and leave your full name and mailing address on the voicemail.

Please be advised that your contact information will not be shared outside of the research project.
