Mr Steve Wohl

Steven WohlSteven Wohl is the Senior Engineering Officer responsible for the operations and management of the Eucalyptus Free Air Carbon Enrichment (EucFACE) facility at the Institute.  Prior to his arrival at the University of Western Sydney, Steven worked for Brookhaven National Laboratories (BNL) as an Environmental Science Associate.  In that role he was a site manager at the Duke FACE experiment located in Chapel Hill, North Carolina and performed biochemical metabolite analysis on Loblolly Pine tissue in Upton, New York.

Steven graduated from the State University of New York's College of Environmental Science and Forestry in 2009 with a B.S. in Environmental Studies: Biological Applications.  He joined HIE in July 2011.

Technical Expertise

  • Oversee the assembly of the EucFACE experiment as well as installing the low-level data communications equipment and programming the array of Environmental Sensors.
  • Monitor, analyse and summarise performance of the FACE system with regard to operational time, maintenance of the CO2 target, and with regard to varying environmental conditions that impact gas-use and efficiency within FACE.
  • A Ticketed New South Wales Tower Crane Operator responsible for the Health and Safety of researchers accessing the Canopy. 
  • Assist with the development and design of complex experiments deployed in the field while providing operational support for the EucFACE user community to ensure compliance with relevant UWS policies and procedures.
