HIE Higher Degree Research Candidate Top Up
The Institute provides a Higher Degree Research Candidate top up consisting of a $5,000 tax-free stipend.
Scholarships will be awarded on a competitive basis. The selection criteria for the top up are:
- appropriateness of fit with the core research of the Institute - refer to the Master of Science (Honours) and PhD project List (PDF, 273.51 KB) (opens in a new window) and the HIE Research section.
- offer of a Master of Science Honours or PhD place within the University coupled with one of the following scholarships: International Postgraduate Research Scholarships (IPRS); Australian Postgraduate Award (APA); UWS International Postgraduate Research Scholarships (UWSIPRS); or UWS Postgraduate Research Awards (UWSPRA)
- funding available
Please Note: Candidates who receive an HIE Higher Degree Research Candidate Top Up and also secure a top up stipend from another provider are required to notify the Institute’s Director immediately. In order to maximise the Institute’s resources and allocate funding equitably, double top ups will be assessed on a case by case basis and may result in the HIE Higher Degree Research Candidate Top Up being stopped. Additional funds for consumables are not counted as a stipend.
There is no application form for a HIE Higher Degree Research Candidate top up. Eligible students who are enrolled in a Master of Science Honours or PhD program, and who hold one of the scholarships identified above, will receive the top up from the Institute. Payment will be added to the primary scholarship and paid fortnightly.
