- Description
- In 2013 the Office of Widening Participation is launching the Fast Forward for Primary Program. The aim of the program is to support schools and parents by encouraging children to build aspirations and participate in higher education. The program will expose students to the benefits of Higher Education by raising awareness and understanding of the different opportunities offered at a university, and by providing access to activities aimed at increasing self-esteem, aspirations and motivation.
The Fast Forward for Primary Program has targeted partner primary schools of current high schools involved in the Fast Forward Program. We have 4 schools around the Minto area who are partner schools with Sarah Redfern High School and 7 schools in the Mt Druitt area who are partner schools with Chifley College-Mt Druitt campus.
Our first event will see Primary aged students visiting UWS for a series of Science workshops run by the CSIRO. They will also be involved in a treasure hunt and visit key areas on campus to help familiarise them with a university environment.
