- Description
Instant Art represents the contemporary influences on Visual Arts in our time. It is a blend of the traditional and the technological. The internet has unlocked the world of images and we now have access to societies, cultures and other artists work like never before. The cult of the celebrity and social media has changed the way we respond to visual imagery. Now, with smart phones in every pocket, an image can be shared in an instant, become famous in an instant, and change people's minds, lives and opinions in an instant. This exhibition combines this instant imagery and access to information with traditional art making practices of drawing, painting and mixed media. The students of Bossley Park High have gained access to cultural traditions such as Mexican Art, popular culture from the United States and our very own Contemporary Australian Art such as Aboriginal influenced designs and Visual Art celebrities like Del Kathryn Barton. Instant art is the Pop Art of our students time. Exhibition opens on Friday 24th April and continues until 8th May 2015
