Description
It’s My Party: The Ideas That Fashioned Our Contemporary Parties Though bombarded 24/7 with the argy-bargy of the day-to-day political happenings, there is little opportunity for civilized conversation on what lies beneath the political banter. This is an evening for just such a conversation. The Whitlam Institute within the University of Western Sydney and Riverside Theatres invite you to join three of Australia’s most experienced and influential political thinkers for a lively discussion on the philosophies of their respective parties. Senator the Hon John Faulkner, The Hon Joe Hockey MP and former Leader of the Australian Greens Bob Brown will come together on the one stage to talk about the foundations on which their respective parties have been built and to discuss how these philosophical roots have shaped the Labor, Liberal and Greens parties of today. This event is co-hosted by the Whitlam Institute within the University of Western Sydney and Riverside Parramatta. The event is run in association with the Behind the Lines exhibition of the best political cartoons of 2012, a touring exhibition from the Museum of Australian Democracy, which is currently on show in the foyer of Riverside Theatres. Tickets: All tickets $12*.
