Description
Dr Vass-Rhee is a visiting researcher with MARCS Institute. She will be presenting "A door and a sigh: Sound and action (and lack thereof) in contemporary dance". Biography: Dr. Freya Vass-Rhee is a dance researcher, dance pedagogue, and dramaturg. She completed a PhD in Dance History and Theory following a 16 year career as adancer, ballet mistress, teacher, and choreographer in Europe and the U.S. Her research on cognitive dance studies, performativity, visuo-sonority in dance, dance dramaturgy, and arts sciences interdisciplinarity has appeared in several academic journals and edited volumes. Freya has worked for The Forsythe Company as dramaturg and production assistant since 2006 and teaches at the University of Music and Performing Arts in Frankfurt.
