Description

The story of 'Chicago Neoliberalism' and its ascendency is a tale of high drama, strong personalities and their extraordinary success in shaping the way we think and live today. For a brief time the Global Financial Crisis focused attention not just the fragility of our economy but on the assumptions it is built on: free trade, small government, micro-economic reform, competition, consumption, debt and choice. The debate died before it really began but the need is greater than ever to get to grips with the forces that have shaped the global economy. The Whitlam Institute invites you to join us as Dr Eddie Nik-Khah and Professor Anna Yeatman trace the story of the Chicago School from its beginnings, and the implications for Australia today.
