Description

Associate Professor Polina Golland from the Computer Science and Artificial Intelligence Laboratory (CSAIL), Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), USA will be presenting, "Modeling Brain Connectivity Networks in Healthy Subjects and Clinical Populations."

Abstract: We propose a novel generative approach to modeling brain connectivity networks. The framework naturally enables joint modeling of anatomical and functional connectivity in normal and clinical populations. To characterise the effects of a disorder, we formulate a generative model for the network of abnormal functional connectivity emanating from the affected brain regions. When fitting the model to the data, the inference algorithm identifies the set of disease foci associated with the observed perturbations in the connectivity measures. We demonstrate our method on a population study of schizophrenia. Joint work with Archana Venkataraman and Carl-Frederick Westin.
