Seminar and Australasian Launch - Communication & Sport Journal

Communication & Sport is a new, peer-reviewed quarterly journal (published by Sage) that fosters international scholarly understanding of the nexus of communication and sport. It publishes research and critical analysis from diverse disciplinary and theoretical perspectives to advance understanding of communication in the varied contexts through which sport touches individuals, society, and culture. A seminar will be held at the University of Western Sydney’s Institute for Culture and Society to mark the publication of Communication & Sport’s Inaugural Special Issue, ‘Reflections on Communication and Sport: Perspectives from Key Figures’ (http://intl-com.sagepub.com/content/current). Presenters will be: • Professor David Rowe (Institute for Culture and Society, UWS and Associate Editor, Communication & Sport), ‘Communication and Sport: On Nation and Globalization’. • Associate Professor Toni Bruce (Faculty of Education, University of Auckland and Journal Contributor), ‘Communication and Sport: On Women and Femininities’. Light refreshments will be provided.
