A variety of English texts are studied by students in preparation for English HSC exams. Specific texts will be discussed in sessions where possible based on information received from students and the Board of Studies.

Extension 1 English

This session will include:
- the essentials of HSC English Extension 1 Module A: Crime Writing
Students will:
- Explore and evaluate notions of genre in relation to the history of crime writing
- Focus on creative writing as well as the critical essay components of the HSC exam
- Discuss genre, texts, textual convention and rebellion across film and television and fiction
- Changes and subversion in Crime Writing
- What works in the exam
- Note: remember to bring along samples of your writing!

This session will seek to cover the following:
- Algebraic skills and techniques
- Algebraic modelling
- Applications of area and volume
- Spherical geometry
- Applications of probability
- Annuities and Depreciation
- Data representation and analysis

2 Unit Mathematics

This session will:
- Aim to review important preliminary topics of the quadratic function and differentiation as well as the HSC topics of series (especially finance), rates, motion, logarithms, exponentials and trig functions.
- Include worked examples of typical HSC questions
- Emphasise examination techniques throughout
- Analyse HSC style questions
- Increase abilities to apply mathematical rules and processes
This session will seek to cover the following:
- Differential calculus
- Series
- Exponential and Logarithmic functions
- Quadratic theory
- Trigonometric functions (if time permits)
The presenter of this session is a HSC Mathematics Teacher (teaching all levels to Ext 1) at a top ranked selective high school and is an experienced HSC marker for mathematics.

Extension 1 Mathematics

This session will seek to cover the following:
- Parametric Equations and the Parabola
- Permutations and Combinations
- The Binomial Theorem
- Inverse Functions
- Methods of Intergration
- Rates of Change
- Simple Harmonic Motion
- Projectile Motion
The presenter of this session is a Head Mathematics Teacher at a top ranked selective high school and is an experienced HSC marker for mathematics Extension 1 and Extension 2.

This session will:
- Address the significant changes within the new Business Studies Syllabus and the resulting first examination for this syllabus.
Students will:
- Examine a sample examination
- participate in a detailed review of the first two topics covered in Term 4 and Term 1
- Improve exam responses in short answer and Business report sections
- Consider the role of marketing in business and successful marketing strategies
- Discuss legal corporate social responsibility issues in business
- Improve techniques in multiple choice, short answers and extended response
- Practice revision
The presenter of this session is a highly experienced Business Studies and Economics classroom teacher and has previously worked as an advisor on the HSC advice line. This presenter also has 16 years of experience in HSC marking.
