About the Institute

The Institute for Culture and Society is a leading interdisciplinary research institute based at the University of Western Sydney, Australia.

We have the largest concentration of research academics in this field in Australia.

We currently have over 20 current research projects with ARC funding.

We hold regular seminars throughout the year with presentations by university researchers and Higher Degree Research candidates.

Conference theme: ‘Knowing Asia: Asian Studies in an Asian Century’ (Parramatta campus 11-13 July 2012).

ICS’s research program consists of two Knowledge Practice Strands and five Culture and Society Research Themes.
