Seminars
The next seminar in the ICS Seminar Series will be held on Thursday 30 May. Speakers are Jerry Watkins from the Institute for Culture and Society, University of Western Sydney, on Upwardly Mobile; and Shanthi Robertson from the Institute for Culture and Society, University of Western Sydney, on Temporality and the (non)temporary subject: emerging forms of labour migration in Australia.
The next ICS Lunchtime Seminar Series will be held on Tuesday 4 June. PhD candidate George (Kev) Christopher Dertadian will be presenting his paper, titled Quasi-Medical – Creative resistance and the non-medical use of painkillers.
Postgraduate Conference
The School of Humanities and Communication Arts and the Institute for Culture and Society at UWS present the 5th Annual Postgraduate Conference: Interventions and Intersections, a three-day interdisciplinary postgraduate conference, on the 26–28 June 2013. The conference aims to discuss questions of research practices, methodologies and subsequent findings.
Higher Education, Creative Engagement and the Creative Economy: the Australia Experience
The Institute for Culture and Society is a local partner organisation of an international workshop on Higher Education, Creative Engagement and the Creative Economy: the Australia Experience. This is one of two Australian workshops aiming to explore the experience and modes of engagement in between higher education and the creative economy in Australia. The Sydney workshop will be held on Friday 12 July. Dr George Morgan is a convenor.
