Interventions and Intersections: 2012 Postgraduate Conference

The School of Humanities and Communication Arts and the Institute for Culture and Society at UWS present the 5th Annual Postgraduate Conference: Interventions and Intersections, a three-day interdisciplinary postgraduate conference, on the 26th – 28th of June 2013.

The aim of the conference is to discuss questions of research practices, methodologies and subsequent findings.

Call for Papers

We invite submissions that address one or any combination of these broad subject areas. Possible formats include papers, posters, presentations of practice-led research, and performative works. The ethos of this conference is to facilitate engaged, critical dialogue on students’ developing interdisciplinary research in Humanities and Communication Arts, Culture and Society. In order to strengthen the research culture at the University of Western Sydney attendance at presentations, constructive feedback, and interaction with your fellow Honours and HDR students is therefore encouraged.

We invite papers from a wide range of disciplines (media and communication studies, music, cultural studies, gender studies, sociology, political sciences etc.) related to the central theme of the conference.

Presentations should be 10 minutes in length for Honours students and 20 minutes for HDR candidates. Proposals will undergo a review and selection process.

To apply, students should send a 250-word abstract outlining your proposed presentation to Jade McDonald at j.mcdonald@uws.edu.au by 13 May 2013. Submitted abstracts should include the following information and in this order:

  • Author’s name
  • Author’s school and degree
  • e-mail address
  • Title of abstract
  • Body of abstract
  • Up to 10 key words, and
  • Please include a five line bibliography.

Emails should be entitled: 5th Student Conference Abstract Submission and should specify if they are an Honours or a PhD submission.
