Institute for Infrastructure Engineering

The Institute for Infrastructure Engineering has a high level of research expertise and well-equipped research facilities.  The Institute is home to one of Australia's best laboratories for independent testing and monitoring for the construction and manufacturing industries.  Its expertise is especially relevant to civil, structural, and signal processing engineering businesses and regulatory bodies. Many staff in the Institute are at the forefront of research in their fields and are experienced in directing research projects.  In order to maximise research output and impact, research topics will be structured to capitalise on the strengths of both students and staff.

Higher Degree Research graduates of the Institute are not only sought after by the engineering profession for their specialised knowledge, their analytical skills and systematic approach to problem solving, they are also highly regarded for their financial and project management capabilities.

The Institute is currently involved in 13 national grants funded through the Australian Research Council Discovery and Linkage Grants Scheme which have formed the basis for the majority of honours projects in Engineering.  Industry partners contributing to the Linkage Projects include a plethora of leading National and International Companies, namely Ajax Fasterners, Arup, BlueScope Lysaght, Coffey Geotechnics, Lincoln Electric, One Steel, Penrith Lakes Development Corporation, Roads and Martime Services and Stramit Industries.
