UWS aims to attract, recruit and retain Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander talent. Our goal is to become an employer of choice within Greater Western Sydney - where Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples will choose UWS as a place to work, stay and further careers.

In so doing, UWS realises that educational opportunities are strengthened by a University-wide enterprise, which has mutual engagement, a growing suite of innovative employment opportunities, consultation, participation and cultural preservation at its heart. Therefore, in policy and practice, UWS adopts the following code:

• to negotiate with Elders and representatives of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities about relevant matters
• to work to attract, recruit and retain Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander talent so as to become an employer of choice
• to evolve ever more creative, flexible opportunities so that Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities will choose UWS as a place to work, stay and further their careers
• to develop collaborative networks and commercial partnerships which further opportunities for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people
• to promote awareness of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures across the University community.
