The UWS Traineeship Pilot Program began in April 2008 and reinforced the University’s aim to create employment opportunities for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Australians. Since its launch, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Trainees have been employed by the University on 12 and 24 month traineeships. The Trainees attend TAFE NSW one day a week and are also encouraged to take part in UWS professional development programs.

The Trainees work in various areas of the University including College of Business and Law, Information Technology, Human Resources, School of Medicine, Careers and Cooperative Education, Office of Research, Executive Projects, MARCS Auditory Laboratories, School of Management, School of Engineering, School of Biomedical and Health Sciences and the Library.
