Please read these Vodafone Frequently Asked Questions before contacting Vodafone or IT Accounts.

I can receive calls, but not make calls:

You will see a little number "2" located at the top left of your mobile screen. This indicates that you have switched to the second line on your SIM card. To remove "Line 2" from your mobile phone press and hold the hash "#" key – the screen will display the words "Change the phone line?" at this point press the "OK" key.

Line 1 is now selected.

Please note that line 2 is not currently supported by networks in Australia.

My mobile phone is asking for a PUK code:

The letters PUK are displayed on your phone because an incorrect PIN number has been keyed three times.

The PIN and PUK Codes are related to your network SIM Card. If you require a PUK code you will have to contact IT Accounts.

SIM Card Rejection:

Some  later model mobile phones require a SIM card above a certain SIM  number. If you phone displays the above message please contact IT Accounts. You will be issued with a new SIM card with your same mobile number.

My mobile is lost or stolen, what should I do?

If for any reason your phone is lost or stolen, we advise that you contact the Vodafone corporate services on 1800 635627 and ask to have the phone barred immediately. If the phone is found you will need to contact  IT Accounts to have the bar lifted.

How do I receive a copy of my mobile account?

If you need a copy of your call usage, and are unable to obtain a copy from your School/Department, please contact IT Accounts.

How do I pay for personal calls?

All personal calls that are to be repaid to the University should be paid to the cashier, quoting the cost centre that was originally charged for the phone calls.

What is the warranty period of Nokia products?

The warranty period for Nokia products cover:

Mobiles, wireless data products and other accessories for 12 months from the date of purchase.

Batteries for 6 months from the date of purchase.

What is WAP?

WAP is Wireless Application Protocol.

WAP is an open global standard for communication between a mobile handset and Internet or other computer application. WAP-based technology enables the design of advanced, interactive and real-time mobile services, such as mobile banking or Internet based news services, which can be used in digital mobile phones or other mobile devices. The WAP specification enables solutions from various equipment supplies to work consistently for end-users on the digital network.

WAP designates an extension of an Internet service bringing you information, services or products wherever and whenever you want. The symbol guarantees that the service will comply with Wireless Application Protocol, the advanced underlying technology making mobile services and products possible.

How long should I charge my NEW battery?

New batteries should always be charged on the phone for 24 hours. It is also important for it to go through 2-3 full charge/discharge cycles when new. Please refer to your user manual for full details.

What happens if I overcharge my battery?

Your battery has a fixed capacity to store power. Charging your phone beyond this capacity will not provide you with any additional benefit. Charging your battery too frequently may reduce the lifespan of your battery. It is recommended that you let your battery drain completely before recharging to minimise the number of charges, as well as to extend your battery’s lifespan.
