Vodafone Mobile Voicemail
Your Vodafone service will automatically be set up with a voice mailbox. Incoming calls will divert to your mailbox if your phone is either in use, turned off or out of range.

How to setup your Vodafone Voicemail
From your mobile phone:
- Dial 121 to connect to the voicemail feature.
- A recorded voice will ask you to enter a 4-10 digit PIN. Note: You cannot use sequential numbers e.g. 3456 or the same numbers e.g. 4444.
- Enter your new security code and press the # key.
- Follow the prompts to record your name and personal greeting. If you're not sure what to say, here's a sample greeting you can use; "Hello, this is (name). Sorry, I can't take your call at the moment, but if you leave your name and number after the tone, I'll get back to you soon. Thanks for calling." Note: Dial 1505 to listen to your greeting.
- Select your Time Zone Location Setting. The default setting is NSW local time.
Until you have set up your security code and recorded your name you will not be able to use your voicemail. Each time you dial 121 you will be prompted to select your security code and record your name, to setup your call back messenger service.
How to change your greeting after the initial setup
- Dial 121
- Press 3: to change personal preferences.
- Press 1: to record your personal greeting.
- Follow the voice prompts to record your personal greeting and then press the # key.
- Press 2: to record your personal busy greeting, to save press 2 again.
- To end simply hangup.
- Dial 1505 to check your greeting.
Message Notification
Your phone is automatically set to notify you when you have a message through Vodafone’s TXT Alert service which is ideal if you don't want to be disturbed by ringing. A TXT will be sent to your phone when a new message is received. Alternatively you can set your phone to Ring Alert which means that your Voicemail will call you when a message is received. A recorded message will tell you how many messages you have and play them back to you.
- Dial 1218 to activate TXT Alert
- Dial 1219 to activate Ring Alert
How to listen to your messages
1. When you have been notified of a new message, simply:
- Dial 121 A recorded message will tell you how many messages you have received and will then play them back to you. Most recent messages are played first.
- After each message you select from the following options:
Press 1: To hear the message again.
Press 2: To save the message.
Press 3: To delete the message.
2. To listen to your messages from any tone dialling phone (including landlines).
- Turn your mobile phone off, or do not answer.
- Dial your own mobile number from any other phone.
- Voicemail will answer and start to play your own greeting, press *.
- When prompted enter your 4 digit code.
- Your voicemail messages will be replayed.
Replying to Voicemail messages
Once you have listened to a message, you can reply instantly by using the Call Return function. As soon as the message is over, dial 0 and you'll be put straight through to the caller. If the message left is from a private number, you'll be given the option of entering a phone number.
Diverting calls to your Voicemail
When your phone is switched off or you are on another call, calls will be instantly diverted to your mailbox. If you prefer not to answer calls or are in an area without coverage, you can also choose to divert all calls to your Voicemail service. This is helpful when you want to make calls, but don't want to receive them.
- To divert all calls to Voicemail - Dial 1212
- To cancel all calls being diverted - Dial 1213
- To divert on 'no answer', 'busy' or 'unreachable' - Dial 1211
Changing your Personal Preferences
With Voicemail you can re-configure your personal preferences at any time. For example, if you are travelling interstate or overseas you might wish to change your personal greeting, divert calls to another number or adjust the Time Zone Location setting.
- Dial 121
- Press 3 for personal preferences
- Press 1 to change your greeting or recorded name
- Press 2 to change your security code
- Press 3 for notification, wake up and reminder preferences
- Press 4 to switch off time and date
- Press 8 for Time Zone Location settings.
Changing your Time Zone Location setting
As you travel around Australia, your Voicemail service will automatically adjust to the local time zone when you change your Location setting. Your default setting is NSW local time.
To change your Location setting:
- Dial 121
- Press 3 for Personal Preferences
- Press 8 for Time Zone Location Settings
- Listen to current settings, if correct press 1, to change press 2
Then:
- Press 2 for NSW
- Press 3 for VIC
- Press 4 for NT
- Press 5 for TAS
- Press 6 for ACT
- Press 7 for QLD
- Press 8 for SA
- Press 9 for WA
- Press 10 for NZ
Recording an Extended Absence Greeting
If, for some reason, you won't be able to answer the phone for a period of time, give your callers peace of mind by recording an Extended Absence Greeting.- Dial 121 for Main Menu
- Press 3 for Personal Preferences
- For greeting or name press 1
- Press 4 to accept messages while away or press 2 to not accept messages while absent
- Record greeting then press #
Voicemail Handy Hints:
- 0 Call Return.
- 1 Repeats Message.
- 2 Saves Message.
- 3 Deletes Message.
- 4 Sends a copy of message to another Vodafone user.
- # Skips message.
- 7 Go back ten seconds.
- 8 Pause / Resume.
- 9 Go forward 10 seconds.
- * Go to main menu.
- 11 Listen to message date & time.
