Business Opportunity Scholarship
Always wanted to study business but thought there were too many obstacles in your path? The Business Opportunity Scholarship was founded with one goal in mind: to help you overcome those obstacles. If you’ve got the academic ability to pursue a career, but are beset by an economic, social or other disadvantage that may prevent you from participating in university study, then this may be your scholarship. Designed to provide financial assistance and access to deserving and talented students, the Business Opportunity Scholarship is your opportunity to realise your true potential.
Eligibility
New students (school leavers and non-current school leavers).
Course(s)
Undergraduate Business and Commerce or Economics Degrees:
- Bachelor of Business and Commerce
- Bachelor of Economics
- Bachelor of Business and Commerce/Bachelor of Laws
- Bachelor of Economics/Bachelor of Laws
- Bachelor of Business and Commerce (Advanced Business Leadership)
- Bachelor of Business and Commerce (Advancded Business Leadership)/Bachelor of Laws
Benefits
$5,000 per year (or part-time equivalent).
Duration
Up to four years full-time (or part-time equivalent) for an undergraduate degree which may include Honours.
Criteria
Applicants must:
- be an Australian citizen or permanent resident of Australia
- reside in or have undertaken their Higher School Certificate (HSC) in Greater Western Sydney
- demonstrate academic potential through a minimum ATAR of 80 or equivalent
- be applying for an eligible business undergraduate degree at UWS
- be able to demonstrate financial or other hardship
- Non-current school leaver applicants will be considered on the basis of work experience and educational qualifications
Application and Selection Process
Application is required via the Universities Admissions Centre (UAC) (opens in a new window).
Selection of this scholarship is based primarily on financial need and academic performance, to the maximum number of scholarships available. Additional factors such as educational disadvantage, membership of a specific equity group and/or significantly adverse personal circumstances will be taken into consideration.
