Criteria

Applicants must:

  • be an Australian citizen or permanent resident of Australia
  • be a commencing student in an undergraduate degree at UWS
  • have participated in the UWS Indigenous School Student Mentoring Program

Preference will be given to applicants who reside in the Hawkesbury Nepean catchment or who can demonstrate a family connection to the catchment.

Hawkesbury Nepean Catchment Management Authority

The Hawkesbury-Nepean Catchment Management Authority's (HNCMA) primary role is to fund environmental projects on private land in areas of critical importance. HNCMA is a statutory authority with a board that reports directly to the Minister for Primary Industries. HNCMA programs and projects are largely funded by the New South Wales and Australian Governments, as well as through partners and corporate supporters.

HNCMA works closely with landholders, councils, landcare groups and other government agencies to plan, fund and carry out practical environmental improvements in the Hawkesbury-Nepean Catchment. Hawkesbury Nepean Catchment Management Authority (HNCMA) have been contributing to support UWS Indigenous students through scholarships since 2009. The scholarships are an initiative of the members of the HNCMA Aboriginal Advisory Committee.

Application and Selection Process

Applicants must provide a statement in support of their application indicating how they believe the receipt of the scholarship will assist them with their studies and in their future career. This statement should give a sufficient explanation of the applicant’s background and current circumstances to enable the University to judge their eligibility, need and merit.

Successful applicants will be selected based on their written application, academic potential, their ability to meet the criteria and, where appropriate, performance in an interview before a selection panel.
