Criteria
Applicants must:
- be Australian citizens or permanent residents of Australia
- receive an offer to study or be currently enrolled in their first year of an undergraduate degree at the UWS Hawkesbury Campus(opens in a new window)
- currently reside in or have resided in the Hills Local Government Area during the time in which their HSC was undertaken
- have completed the HSC within two years prior to commencing at UWS
Applicants meeting the above criteria will be assessed on their academic results.

The Hills Shire Council(opens in a new window) aims to take a wholistic approach to the social, environmental and economic aspects of urban and rural planning and development. Through strategic leadership, vision and a commitment to providing effective services and facilities, the council facilitates community access to support services and fosters a safer and cleaner environment for its residents.
In partnership with UWS, The Hills Shire Council is committed to supporting the future development of the area by providing a scholarship for a young local resident wishing to undertake tertiary education.
Application and Selection Process
Applicants must provide a statement in support of their application indicating how they believe the receipt of the scholarship will assist them with their studies and in their future career. This statement should give a sufficient explanation of the applicant’s background and current circumstances to enable the University to judge their eligibility, need and merit.
Successful applicants will be selected based on their written application, academic potential, their ability to meet the criteria and, where appropriate, performance in an interview before a selection panel.
Applicants must complete the appropriate Application Form and submit the form to the Scholarships and Student Advancement Unit. Please note, applications for 2013 have now closed. Please register your interest in scholarships to be kept informed when scholarship applications open.
