Criteria

Applicants must:
  • be Australian citizens or permanent residents of Australia
  • receive an offer to study full-time in the Bachelor of Social Science (Geography & Urban Studies)/Pathway to Master of Urban Management and Planning(opens in a new window) at UWS
  • have been a resident of the Penrith Local Government Area for at least twelve months prior to applying for this scholarship, and continue to reside within the Penrith Local Government Area for the duration of the scholarship
  • be willing to complete a negotiated period of work experience with Penrith City Council

This strong local economy, one that is able to provide for and attract quality jobs, is a key part of the City of Penrith's sustainability and investment in education is seen as integral to this. Penrith City Council therefore support a number of scholarships at UWS each year. These scholarships support local students pursuing studies in areas of regional significance.

Applications and Selection Process

Applicants must provide a statement in support of their application indicating how they believe the receipt of the scholarship will assist them with their studies and in their future career. This statement should give a sufficient explanation of the applicant’s background and current circumstances to enable the University to judge their eligibility, need and merit.

Successful applicants will be selected based on their written application, academic potential, their ability to meet the criteria and, where appropriate, performance in an interview before a selection panel.
