Criteria
Applicants must:
- be Australian citizens or permanent residents of Australia
- be enrolled full-time in the Bachelor of Business and Commerce (Honours)(opens in a new window) Economics at UWS
- have achieved a Distinction average in UWS undergraduate units in Economics, Finance and Econometrics
Applicants meeting the above criteria will be assessed and selected based on their overall GPA
Professor B. Bhaskara Rao Memorial
Professor Bhaskara 'Bill' Rao was an academic of great distinction. He was a great teacher and a prolific researcher in the fields of macroeconomics and time series econometrics, with collaborations all over the world and articles published in top ranking journals.
Professor Rao joined the University of Western Sydney in 2008 and worked right up until his death on 30 August 2011.
Professor Rao was much loved by his students and colleagues for his intelligence, application, innovation and patience. He was a world-class academic, mentor, collaborator and researcher.
The Professor B. Bhaskara Rao Memorial Scholarship is donated by Professor Rao's wife and son. The Scholarship seeks to encourage and inspire UWS students in their learning and understanding of economics, in memory of Professor Rao.
Application and Selection Process
Applicants must provide a statement in support of their application indicating how they believe the receipt of the scholarship will assist them with their studies and in their future career. This statement should give a sufficient explanation of the applicant’s background and current circumstances to enable the University to judge their eligibility, need and merit.
Successful applicants will be selected based on their written application, academic potential, their ability to meet the criteria and, where appropriate, performance in an interview before a selection panel.
