External Scholarships


The following scholarships are offered externally to the University. It is recommended you go to the individual websites below to find out more information about the scholarship including application and eligibility requirements.

Alison Watson Scholarship

  • Arthritis NSW is proud to provide all secondary and tertiary students who have been medically diagnosed with arthritis in New South Wales access to apply for a scholarship to help with their studies during 2012.
  • Arthritis NSW will be offering between one to three scholarships of up to $2,000 to the students that need the scholarship the most.

Australian Agriculture Scholarship

  • The Australian Council of Agicultural Societies (ACAS) and Coca-Cola Amatil have been supporting people studying in agricultural fields for the past five years.
  • This scholarship, valued at $2,000 encourages young people studying at university or TAFE to pursue further education in an agricultural related field.

Australian Veterans' Childrens Trust

  • For Children of Veterans intending Tertiary Study in 2012

Commonwealth Equity Scholarships

  • From April 2010 onwards, two scholarships will be available to higher education students to assist with the cost of studying and living away from home. The scholarships are the Student Start-Up Scholarships and Relocation Scholarships
  • You do not need to apply for these scholarships - Department of Human Services will pay them directly to eligible recipients

Commonwealth Scholarships (CS) for Indigenous students

  • Indigenous Commonwealth Education Costs Scholarship to assist students with general education costs
  • Indigenous Commonwealth Accommodation Scholarship to assist students from regional and remote areas who have to relocate to attend higher education with accommodation costs
  • Commonwealth Indigenous Access Scholarship to assist Indigenous students enrolled in an enabling course. Each Scholarship is awarded on a competitive basis.

George Thomas Scholarship

  • AHEPA (Australian Hellenic Educational Progressive Association) aims to foster Australian and Greek relations by actively promoting awareness of the Hellenic culture.
  • This scholarship will give a student the opportunity to visit Greece to gain an insight into the Hellenic culture and medical system.  It is hoped that this will assist the student in providing optimal and culturally sensitive medical service to Australian-Greeks in the future.
  • Selection Criteria: The student must be a final year medical school student and of Greek heritage; must demonstrate strong academic achievement; and must demonstrate a keen interest in Hellenic culture and issues such as migrant and public health.

Jamieson Award

  • The Australian Federation of Graduate Women � NSW Inc. offers annual awards to outstanding female students who completed the final year of their first degree in 2010. Preference will be given to applicants with significant community involvement and preferably proceeding to approved further study.
  • The Award for 2011 will be $A1000.00. More than one award may be given.

JB Fairfax Award for Rural Journalism

  • The Award was established through a private donation from Mr John B Fairfax AO.
  • The JB Fairfax Award for Rural Journalism aims to encourage university students to pursue a career in rural journalism upon graduation. 
  • The Award includes a scholarship of up to $10,000.

Kenneth W Tribe Scholarship

  • The Deaf Society of NSW awards this scholarship to people who are deaf or hard of hearing, for study that will lead to improved employment outcomes.
  • The scholarships are awarded twice yearly and can be up to $5000.
  • Closing dates are the 30 June and the 31 December each year.

Logistics Association of Australia Ltd University Scholarship

  • LAA Ltd is Australia's leading association focused on logistics and supply chain management. It has a solid record in promoting excellence in logistics and supply chain education. The 2012 Scholarships program will further foster growth of Australian tertiary education in these areas
  • The Scholarships Program is open to all Australian students enrolled at a Participating Australian University in an Undergraduate Degree containing a logistics or supply chain management stream of subjects.
  • In 2012 there will be two undergraduate degree scholarships worth $2500 each.

Nursing and Allied Health Scholarship and Support Scheme (NAHSSS): Allied Health Undergraduate Scholarship

  • Services for Australian Rural and Remote Allied Health (SARRAH) administer the Allied Health Undergraduate Scholarship under the NAHSSS. This scholarship provides assistance for people living in rural, remote, and regional areas that are enrolled or intending to enrol in, an accredited/approved undergraduate or graduate entry Allied Health Course.
  • The NAHSSS is funded by the Australian Government Department of Health and Ageing.
  • Total scholarship value is up to $10,000 per full-time equivalent (FTE) year.

Nursing Scholarships

  • The Royal College of Nursing Australia administers nursing and midwifery scholarships for the Australian Government Department of Health and Ageing

  • There are a range of scholarships available for nurses, midwives, midwifery and nursing students in Australia

Redkite Scholarship

  • The Redkite scholarship is for young patients and survivors of cancer aged 16 - 21 years to reach their full potential and achieve their personal best in their chosen area.

Rural Scholarship

  • Rural Scholarships are available to support individuals in NSW who demonstrate a passion for rural issues and whose studies will add value to rural communities.
  • Several scholarships to the value of $5,000 for full-time study or up to $1,500 for part-time study are available.

Vision Australia Further Education Bursary

  • Awarded to students from NSW, ACT or Victoria who are blind or vision impaired who, for financial reasons, may not be able to fully participate in further education, providing adaptive technology to assist their studies.
