UWS Most Outstanding Year 11 Award
The UWS Most Outstanding Year 11 Award is designed to support students from Greater Western Sydney who demonstrate academic excellence in their Year 11 studies and who have also shown leadership qualities within their school or community.
Available: One award is offered per participating High School within the Greater Western Sydney region.
Award Benefits:
Each Most Outstanding Year 11 recipient will receive the following:
- HSC Study Grant valued at $500,
- Conditional Academic Excellence Scholarship valued at $20,000 ($5,000 per year) to study at UWS,
- Guaranteed UWS Course Offer.
The $500 HSC Study Grant is obligation-free and recipients are not required to attend UWS. Recipients must successfully recieve an ATAR of 90 or greater as well as an official offer into a UWS undergraduate degree to recieve the Academic Excellence Scholarship.
The guaranteed course offer will be made direct to the student and is not conditional upon ATAR. Due to additional selection criteria, guaranteed offers cannot be made to the following courses:
Bachelor of Medicine/ Bachelor of Surgery, Bachelor of Medicine/ Bachelor of Surgery/ Bachelor of Arts, Bachelor of Music, Bachelor of Health Science/ Master of Physiotherapy, Bachelor of Laws (Graduate Entry) and Bachelor of Laws (Non-Graduate Entry), Bachelor of Information Communications Technology (Enhanced Pathway), Bachelor of Education (Birth - 5 years) and Bachelor of Contemporary Art.
Duration: The Study Grant is available as a one-off payment and the Academic Excellence Scholarship is available for up to four years.
Application Process and Selection:
The School Principal in conjunction with the Year 11 Coordinator are invited to select a high performing Year 11 student based on academic performance during Year 11. Other criteria, such as leadership skills and contribution to the high school and greater community, may also be taken into consideration. Students should be selected based on their likelihood of meeting an ATAR of 90 or greater.
Guidelines for secondary selection criteria may include:
- Outstanding leadership qualities - Level of leadership demonstrated in both the school environment and the broader community.
- Community involvement - Demonstrated participation and contribution to school and community-based volunteer activities.
Recipients will be presented with a a Certificate of Recognition, $500 HSC Study Grant, guaranteed course offer and conditional scholarship at their high school award ceremony.
Applications open in October and close late November each year.
