Study Abroad for UWS Students studying internationally

Study Abroad is for UWS Students studying internationally.

This is similar to the exchange option although there are a couple of important differences.

  1. Students must pay tuition fees to the overseas university or ISEP (and not UWS)
  2. Students do not compete with other students for places.
  3. Students who undertake a study abroad placement will not be covered by UWS travel or liability insurance. Students should arrange their own travel and medical insurance and, if they are completing a practical placement while studying at an overseas institution, ensure they have adequate liability coverage.

Study Abroad Programs are popular, particularly if an exchange agreement has not been signed with an institution that students wish to study at.   In some countries tuition fees can be substantial, but in others fees are cheaper than in Australia. Given that tuition fees will be paid to an overseas university, students are advised to take a leave of absence from UWS for the duration of the study period. In most cases when you study abroad you will need to pay your own fees upfront.

Students must make direct inquiries with the institution of their choice with regard to application procedures and course information. Credit transfer arrangements should also be discussed with your Head of Program prior to embarking on any overseas study.

UWS has an agreement with ISEP which allows its students to study at many more sites worldwide. The ISEP program has specific application and administration requirements.

Participating in an ISEP Direct program gives you much more choice in where you want to go. Some ISEP exchange sites have limited availability but ISEP Direct does not have the same restriction.
