Welcome to the University of Western Sydney!

Starting studies at a university is exciting. Starting studies in another country is exceptional - a new environment, new faces, and a new way of learning. The UWS International Orientation program will help you in your transition to university and to a new chapter of your life.

Orientation is the official start of the session and specifically designed to introduce you to the University and key staff members. The program runs over several days and takes place 10 days before classes commence.

  • Obtain important information about settling in at UWS and life in Sydney
  • Network and meet other new students
  • Free gifts, fun and entertainment
  • Free lunch!

What should I bring to Orientation?

  • Your passport
  • Copy of both pages of the most recent offer letter issued to you
  • Copy of your electronic Confirmation of Enrolment (eCoE)
  • ALL relevant original certificates and transcripts from previous courses AND one set of photocopies of these documents (required for Provisional and Conditional Offers)
  • Tuition Fee payment (only if making payment on the day) only credit card or cheque accepted.

It’s the time to ask all questions, to meet other students, have fun and get ready for the UWS experience!

Orientation Dates

Students enrolling in Session 2, 2012 (July)

  • Thursday, 19 July 2012
    10.00 am, Building EA, Parramatta Campus (opens in a new window)
    For students enrolling in Health and Science disciplines.
  • Friday, 20 July 2012
    10.00 am, Building EA, Parramatta Campus (opens in a new window)
    For students enrolling in Arts and Business disciplines and Study Abroad and Exchange programs. 

My Course Planning Sessions
My Course Planning Sessions (MCP) (opens in a new window) will be held on the same day as the Orientation program.The sessions offer you the opportunity to find out more about your course and receive assistance in selecting units for study.

Course Orientation Sessions
Session are also being held for students during 'O' week.  Check your campus orientation schedule (opens in a new window) to find out what's happening on your campus.  

Transport details for Orientation

Catching a train to and from Parramatta station?
Free shuttle bus to and from Parramatta station and Parramatta campus will be available between 8.00am-9.30am and 2.00pm-5.30pm.

Living on (or close to) another UWS campus?
Register (opens in a new window) for free bus to and from Parramatta campus. Registrations will open a few weeks prior to Orientation in July, 2012. 

International AcPrep
9:30am to 3:30pm, Building EA, Parramatta Campus (opens in a new window)

To support you in adjusting to the learning environment of the University, new international students are invited and encouraged to attend the free International Academic Preparation (AcPrep) program to improve academic and writing skills in preparation for commencing study at UWS.

Places are limited. Registrations will open several weeks prior to Orientation.

Enrolment

You can enrol online via MySR.  Check out the video clip and information sheets for all the details on how to enrol. 

If you experience any difficulty, enrolment staff will be available during the orientation period to help you with enrolment.

Week O, Campus Orientation Sessions

Week O runs across all campuses and provides you with the opportunity to meet academic staff, get to know other students in your course and ensure you are prepared to start classes. To find out what's happening on your campus, check your campus orientation schedule for details (opens in a new window).    

Social Activities

UWS has great university life across all campuses with regular activities and events. Visit uwsconnect (opens in a new window) online or on orientation day to find out what's planned for the Autumn session.
