Orientation Program

Welcome to the University of Western Sydney!

Starting your study at a university is exciting. Starting your study in another country is exceptional - a new environment, a new culture, and a new way of learning. The UWS International Orientation program will help you in your transition to university and to a new chapter of your life.  

Orientation is the official start of the session and specifically designed to introduce you to the University and key staff members. The program runs over several days and takes place 10 days before classes commence.

Spring Session 2013 (July intake)

International Orientation Preparation Day
Thursday 18 July 2013
12:30pm-4pm
Building EA, Lower Ground Level, Room 29 Parramatta Campus (opens in a new window)
This day caters for students who need to accept their offer, pay fees or submit transcripts.
Students from UWSCollege and TAFE NSW are especially encouraged to attend the orientation preparation day to finalise admission. 

International Orientation Day
Friday 19 July 2013
9:30am-5pm (arrival 9am)
Building EE, Auditorium, Parramatta Campus (opens in a new window)
For all international students commencing in Spring Session 2013

Please bring the following:

  • Your passport
  • Copy of both pages of the most recent offer letter issued to you
  • Copy of your electronic Confirmation of Enrolment (eCoE)
  • ALL relevant original certificates and transcripts from previous courses AND one set of photocopies of these documents (required for Provisional and Conditional Offers)
  • Tuition fee payment (only if making payment on the day) only credit card or cheque accepted. Do not bring cash.

Catching a train to and from Parramatta station?
A free shuttle bus will be available between Parramatta train station and Parramatta campus at the following times:

•12noon-1pm: Parramatta train station to Parramatta campus - pick up from Darcy Street (northern side of Parramatta station)
•3-4pm:  Parramatta campus to Parramatta train station

Free transport will be available to and from Orientation Day on Parramatta campus, from your home campus. Please reserve your place online at Student Transport to Orientation

My Course Planning (MCP) Sessions

It is important you attend My Course Planning Sessions (MCP) to find out more about your course and receive assistance in selecting units for study to help you enrol in your course. 

My Course Planning sessions for international students will be held on Orientation Day.  However, if you are an international student currently living in Australia, you have the option to attend MCP sessions offered to local students.

Search your course in the MCP schedule to find the time and location of your session.

International Academic Preparation Program

To support you in adjusting to a university learning environment, new international students are invited and encouraged to attend a free program called International AcPrep. This program will help you improve academic and writing skills in preparation for commencing study at UWS.

You can enrol online via MySR.  View the video clip and information sheets for all the details on how to enrol. 

If you experience any difficulty, enrolment staff will be available during the International Orientation Program and 'O' week to help you with enrolment.

University-wide Orientation Week and Course Orientation Sessions

Course Orientation Sessions are held for students during 'O' week.

'O' Week runs across all campuses and provides you with the opportunity to meet academic staff, get to know other students in your course and ensure you are prepared to start classes.
