Elen Seymour

Career Profile

Following graduation with a double degree in Arts and Law from Sydney University Elen commenced work with the Australian Taxation Office in their Graduate Program. After completing the Graduate Program Elen was promoted to a position in the International Tax Department. She worked in the audit team in the Transfer Pricing Record Review Project and advised on taxation of trusts.  Elen was recruited as a Consultant to PricewaterhouseCoopers Sydney Australia to the International Tax (Transfer Pricing) team and later to PricewaterhouseCoopers Ottawa, Canada as a Senior Association in International Tax.  Returning to Australia she accepted an offer to teach Taxation Law at UWS. She has also taught at the University of Wollongong taxation and commercial law subjects. Recently Elen has accepted a position as Lecturer in Taxation Law and Financial Services with the School of Law at UWS.

Interests

Learning and Teaching

Elen is a specialist revenue and tax law lecturer. Elen is currently teaching undergraduate and post-graduate tax law service units and Revenue Law to undergraduate law students. Elen has also taught Law of Business Organisations and has a keen interest in many aspects of Administrative Law. Elen has a keen interest in blended learning and regularly incorporates technology in teaching.  To this end she has used podcasts, twitter and online discussion forums to build and imporve the student learning experience.

Research Interests 

Elen is currently undertaking her PhD with the University of Sydney. Her thesis  is on taxation of charities in Australia.
