Career Profile

Ms Margaret Hyland currently is a lecturer in Law, where her main teaching areas are Corporations law, Administrative law and teaching the foundation law unit, 'Introduction to Law'. Prior to becoming a lawyer, she completed a Bachelor of Social Work at the University of New South Wales and worked for three years as a a social worker with the Department of Defence and also with Probation and Parole. She then obtained her LLB with Honours from the University of Sydney. Subsequently she obtained a scholarship to obtain her Masters in Law from Sydney University. She was admitted as a solicitor and practised for a number of years for a large city law firm before taking up a position as a lecturer at the University of Western Sydney. 

Learning and Teaching Interests

Her main teaching areas are corporations law, administrative law and introduction to the law, which is a foundation unit for law students. However, over the years she has taught and co-oridnated a number of units, including property law, commercial law and family law.

Research Interests

Her main research interests are in the area of corporations and administrative law. However, she also has a research interest in family law and human rights issues.
