Career Profile

Following graduation from law at UNSW Nikki commenced work as a solicitor at Minter Ellison Lawyers. After working in the areas of Litigation, Construction and Intellectual Property, she accepted an offer to teach at UNSW. Since this time she has taught at UNSW, USYD, Loyola University (New Orleans) and is now a full time lecturer at UWS.

Prior to beginning her law studies Nikki studied at the Conservatorium High School majoring in violin studies and taught violin and piano for many years. She has studied overseas at Syracuse University and University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Nikki regards her 2 month African camping safari as her life's highlight!

Interests

Learning and Teaching Interests

Nikki has taught throughout the full spectrum of university law course including Introduction to Law, Criminal Law, Torts, Public Health Law, Comparative Public Health Law and Indigenous Pre-Law Studies. She has also taught in service courses - Introduction to Business Law and Medical Ethics and Health Law.

Research Interests

Nikki's research interests centre on issues of capacity in the law, with particular focus on negligence law and mental health.  Her thesis focuses on the role of mental illness in negligence law. This represents the cross road of her two primary interests - negligence law and mental health.
