Office of the Pro Vice-Chancellor (Learning Transformations)
Welcome to the Office of the Pro-Vice Chancellor (Learning Transformations) (opens in a new window) led by Professor Simon Barrie.
The Pro Vice-Chancellor (Learning Transformations) reports to the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academic), is a member of the University Executive, and is responsible for providing senior level leadership of the University's learning and teaching strategic and action plans.
Learning and teaching is a responsibility of the whole university. We begin from the proposition that the whole experience counts in providing a learning environment that leads to student success. This means that everyone – including students, academic and professional staff, plays an important role in fulfilling the goals we have set for ourselves. These goals are outlined in the Draft Learning & Teaching Plan 2016-2020 (opens in a new window) which has recently been available for input and feedback from staff and student representatives, and will deliver key learning and teaching principles and initiatives for the next five years.
The University is also supporting student learning and academic staff development. The Learning and Teaching Unit (LTU) is a central unit providing a range of programs and services to enhance learning and teaching at the University. The LTU includes the Maths Education Support Hub (MESH), the Hub for Academic Literacy and Language (HALL) and the Blended Learning Team. The LTU is charged with ensuring a university wide coordinated approach to excellence in learning and teaching.
