Transfer Request

Request for Transfer

This category of application is for Australian and New Zealand citizens and Australian permanent residents only. All International applicants are to apply via the UWS International Office.

UWS School of Medicine will consider applications for transfer from two applicant types:

1.  students who are currently (or have previously been) enrolled in a B Medicine/B Surgery (MBBS) or equivalent at a university within Australia or New Zealand.  If you have only ever studied medicine at an overseas university, you should apply via the standard pathway.

2.  from Australian qualified and registered dentists seeking to complete an MBBS.

This category of applicant must complete and submit a Transfer Request Form which will be available on this website 1 August 2013. Applications close 30 September 2013 and applicants will be informed of outcomes by early December 2013. This category of applicant is not eligible to apply to UWS School of Medicine MBBS or MBBS/BA via any other pathway.

Criteria considered when assessing transfer requests include:

  1. Reason(s) for wishing to transfer
  2. Academic standing – applicants must be in good academic standing (transcripts required)
  3. Agreement of both medical Deans (where applicable)
  4. Availability of a place in the UWS medical program.

If the above criteria are assessed favourably, a transfer can be offered. In such circumstances, the student’s completed record of study in the program would be assessed to determine which year they will be placed in at UWS. Whilst it may be considered, there is no guarantee of academic credit.

UWS Medicine does not have a specific quota to accommodate  transferring students.
