Honours

Undertaking an Honours degree in the School of Medicine provides the student with the opportunity to conduct an in-depth investigation in an area of medical science that is of particular interest to them.

The School of Medicine is one of Australia’s newest research-active medical schools with a staff profile at the forefront of their field with high levels of expertise in biomedical and clinical sciences. The School is equipped with new laboratories and facilities for research in biomedical sciences, population health, epidemiology and theoretical research. Research facilities are also available in the teaching hospitals associated with the School of Medicine.

Research capabilities within the School of Medicine are diverse, and some of the current areas of research include: basic drug design, proteomics, sensory neuroscience, population health, mental trauma that follows disasters, eating disorders, renal and obstetric medicine, immunology and vascular surgery.

In consultation with the prospective supervisor, and the School's honours coordinator, a detailed research proposal will be formulated that reflects the interests of both the student and supervisor – this research proposal will form the basis of your online honours application.
