The school's main base is on the Campbelltown Campus.
There are also offices at Liverpool and Parramatta.
The Clinical Schools are located at Campbelltown (Macarthur) and Blacktown/Mt Druitt Hospitals.
This architecturally engaging building was officially opened by the Hon. Julia Gillard on 17 November 2008. View our 'special insert' on the events of the day.
The 8120 square metre School of Medicine facility has been constructed on the Campbelltown campus and forms an attractive eastern 'gateway' to the campus. The state-of-the-art facility, partially funded with $25m from the Federal Government, is the school’s main academic and administrative base and has been designed by award-winning architectural firm Lyons. The firm was selected through a competition under the aegis of the Royal Australian Institute of Architects.
Stage 1 of the facility is now complete and includes:
a main headquarters block containing reception, student administration, academic offices and research spaces for PhD and other higher degree students
Stage 2 is now underway and involves the construction of a lecture theatre block comprising a 350 and a 200 seat lecture theatre.
The four buildings are connected by a central hub which will be an outdoor space covered by a striking roof. This provides an informal meeting place for the entire campus community.
Through an agreement with the State Government, an existing TAFE facility close to Liverpool Hospital was renovated for use by the School of Medicine.
In 2007, first-year medical students were taught primarily at this site while stage 1 of the Campbelltown facility was completed.
With the availability of the teaching and student space on the Campbelltown Campus, the Liverpool facility is now housing the School's Professor of Patholology and his team of staff and students.
