The Men's Health team continues to grow and is now made up of:
John is the Director of MHIRC and Foundation Chair in Primary Health Care at the University of Western Sydney. Professor John Macdonald was born in Scotland. John has 10 years experience in Zambia in Primary Health Care and education. He has also been a Visiting Professor of Community and Public Health, Birzeit University, Palestine, since 1994. Anthony is the Project Manager of MHIRC and assists groups and organisations working with men and boys by providing support, information and networking opportunities.
He has particular research interests in the positive contributions that men and boys make to their communities (especially through volunteering); and in the needs, concerns and contributions of older men. He is currently studying for his PhD.
David is Communications Officer at MHIRC and is responsible for implementation of marketing and communications programs and projects that increase visibility of MHIRC and the men's health agenda.
Tony is the manager of Jumna Wal, the Aboriginal Men's Health and Information Centre. He is currently leading the new program called Creating Better Pathways for Aboriginal Men.
Tony has a background in community engagement programs.
Rick is the manager of The Shed based at Emerton. Rick is also involved with the Sydney Aboriginal Men's Network.
Rick is currently working with Legal Aid and other parties on a strategy for managing Apprehended Violence Order-based jailing of Aboriginal men.
Joycelyn is the administrator at MHIRC and handles financial transactions, invoicing and general administration for the group.
Anni established Argyle Research in 2006 and provides contract research services for MHIRC. Since then the company has provided evaluation, research and planning services to government, NGOs and universities. Anni has a doctorate in health social science and has written two books and numerous research papers and reports.
