Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Men's Health

Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander males have an average life expectancy twenty years less than that of white Australian males, and in many areas, Aboriginal health is universally poorer than their non-Aboriginal counterparts.

MHIRC recognises that there are many causes and contributors to the current status of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander health in Australia.

Our approach is to 'walk with' Aboriginal men, to share their stories and learn from what they contribute.

The Shed and Jumna Wal are projects that recognise the issues facing Aboriginal men in western Sydney and provide channels for them to share their stories and contribute to better solutions that build on their strengths.
