The University has six major campuses located in greater Western Sydney and a number of smaller metropolitan and regional sites. The major campuses are Bankstown, Campbelltown, Hawkesbury, Parramatta, Penrith and Nirimba. Together these campuses and sites amount to 1855 hectares of land.
UWS has undertaken diligent and detailed assessments of its land holdings to identify footprints sufficient for campus growth in the future. Master plans for each campus have been prepared to provide strategic guidance to campus development and to demonstrate capacity for growth to be accommodated.
The campus development strategy also involves identifying alternative and complementary uses of land not required for campus growth. Income derived from these developments will be invested for strategic teaching and research initiatives as well as the enhancement of the student experience. Projects include the creation of a new residential community adjacent to the Campbelltown campus in partnership with Landcom and the future redevelopment of a parcel of land at Westmead to form a new town centre precinct.
