Textbooks and Course Notes
Textbooks can be purchased from UWS Connect Books (opens in a new window) either online or from their store locations on campus.
Textbook tips from students:
-
The UWS Library purchases at least one copy of every prescribed textbook and house them in the 'closed reserve' reserve section of the Library
-
It is usually a good idea to wait until the first week of lectures/tutorials to find out what textbooks are required
- If textbooks have been used in previous sessions you may find second-hand textbooks for sale. Keep an eye out on noticeboards around the campus and make sure you check the edition of the second-hand textbook as they are often updated with new material you may need for class
- It is not necessary to purchase books labelled as 'Recommended Reading'. These can be accessed from the library (and sometimes online through the Library e-Resources)
- The website Textbook Exchange allows Australian university and TAFE students to buy and sell second-hand textbooks
- Sharing the cost of text books with friends is an option to save money. You can study together or borrow the book from each other over the teaching session
- At the end of each session you can sell the books you no longer need, and use the money you get to buy more
