This conference aims to:
- Examine current Australian and international evidence on risk and protective factors influencing women’s and men’s mental health in the perinatal period
- Discuss the social and emotional support needs of women and families in the perinatal period including the needs of migrant and refugee women
- Provide health professional with culturally appropriate strategies and techniques to incorporate into the care they provide form women and their families
Keynote Speaker: Associate Professor Cindy-Lee Dennis Dr Cindy-Lee Dennis is Associate Professor in the Faculty of Nursing, University of Toronto and holds a Canada Research Chair in Perinatal Community Health and the Shirley Brown Chair in Women’s Mental Health Research, at Women’s College Research Institute, Toronto. She is currently the principal investigator on two multi-site RCTs related to the prevention and treatment of postnatal depression (Canadian Institute of Health Research) and a co-investigator on 12 other relevant projects. She has over 70 peer-reviewed publications concerning the care of women during their pregnancy and the postnatal period. She developed the international adopted Breastfeeding Self-Efficacy Theory and Breastfeeding Self-Efficacy Scale.
