Information for Journalists
The University of Western Sydney’s Media Unit is here to help local, national and international media cover stories relating to the University.
We are a diverse team with expertise in news reporting, television production, radio program production, magazine writing and public relations.
We understand the qualities of a good story and the importance of deadlines.
Working journalists are encouraged to contact the Media Unit for help in researching a story, finding an expert to comment on breaking news and arranging photography or filming.
The Media Unit is in close contact with the University’s researchers, academics and higher education policy specialists. We can provide story leads specific to your needs.
Media releases on research, expert commentary and University events are frequently published on the News Centre website which has an RSS Feed facility.
Journalists can contact the Media Unit to enquire about the range of experts available to comment on topical issues. The Expert Opinion news feed also provides a snapshot of some of the issues that are currently being discussed by UWS experts in the media.
UWS welcomes visits by the media to their Campuses but ask journalists to first contact the Media Unit before their visit. The Media Unit can assist finding suitable locations, organising parking and ensuring the visit is productive.
The University of Westerrn Sydney has six campuses in the Greater Western Sydney region.
Parking on campus can be at a premium, especially during semester, media wishing to park on Campus are strongly encouraged to contact the Media Unit for advice.
While on Campus, please follow any local parking restrictions and advisory signs. Regular parking patrols are conducted on all Campuses. The Media Unit regret we are unable to waive issued fines.
