Deck the halls with toys at UWS

Toy Appeal

A wonderful response to the Chancellor's Christmas Toy Appeal.

The University of Western Sydney students and staff together with UWS Early Learning Centres, and UWSCollege generously donated to The Salvation Army's Christmas Toy Appeal.

Over 1000 toys and gifts were donated to The Salvation Army who will distribute the toys to disadvantaged families for Christmas within western Sydney.

Community Relations Director, Greater West Division, Stephen Burfield, accepted the gifts on behalf of The Salvation Army and was thankful for the generosity of the UWS community.

UWS Chancellor Professor Peter Shergold says the University is pleased to be working with The Salvation Army as both organisations share a bound commitment towards making a difference to the lives of the people within our community.

"Christmas is a time for remembering those less fortunate and for giving," says Professor Shergold.

"I am overwhelmed by the generosity of UWS staff. It's wonderful to see that the UWS community has come forward to donate such an exceptional number of gifts."

UWS strives to be an institution that brings opportunity and educational excellence to life and through this initiative the University saw the UWS community collectively 'giving back' - by supporting individuals and communities who are in need at this time of year.
