US Consul General to discuss ‘clean tech revolution’ at Whitlam Institute
President Barack Obama has been raising the stakes on climate action, turning attention to the question of renewables with the announcement of his Clean Power Plan.
In the lead up to the critical United Nations Paris Climate Summit, United States Consul General Hugo Llorens will visit the University of Western Sydney to discuss America's response to climate change at a public event (opens in a new window) hosted by the Whitlam Institute and the Hawkesbury Institute for the Environment.
"I wrote in the foreword to a recent Whitlam Institute paper that climate change and its challenges are real, however at times our public discourse about this critical issue is surreal", says Eric Sidoti, the Director of the Whitlam Institute.
"Clearly our democratic systems, and even our ways of thinking are challenged by this immense global issue, but it is not an impossible task. There is hope, and there is progress."
"This public forum is an opportunity to hear directly from United States Consul General Hugo Llorens, particularly important at a time when global commitments are firming."
The free event is hosted by the Whitlam Institute and the UWS Hawkesbury Institute for the Environment.
