Call for cancer carers to join new study
Caregivers of adolescents diagnosed with cancer in the last 2 years are being asked to participate in a unique Australian study exploring their experiences.
Mothers, fathers and other caregivers who look after a young person with cancer aged 10 to 16 years will be interviewed in the study conducted by the University of Western Sydney School of Nursing and Midwifery(opens in a new window).
The interviews, which take 45 to 60 minutes, can be done over-the-phone or in person.
The study is an opportunity for people to voice their opinion and feelings.
Some people may find it helpful to talk about their experiences caring for a child diagnosed with cancer.
The study results will build better understanding for nurses of one of the most challenging roles a parent or carer can undertake.
Josefina Natividad Villanueva, a Registered Nurse and UWS Bachelor of Nursing (Honours)(opens in a new window) student will conduct the study under the supervision of Dr Lauretta Luck and Dr Lucie Ramjan(opens in a new window) from the UWS School of Nursing and Midwifery.
More information or to participate, please contact Lauretta Luck (02 9685 9568) and Lucie Ramjan (02 9685 9032)
